Hey! This isn't Dylan this time. My name is Brandon.

Tomorrow morning, I have the privilege of nominating my best friend, Dylan Moore, for First Vice Chair of the North Carolina Democratic Party.

When I first ran for State House in 2020, I was 25 years old, running in a heavily gerrymandered district in rural Guilford County. Most people wrote me off because of my age and because they didn’t think the race was winnable.

But Dylan didn’t.

If there’s one thing I’ve learned about Dylan, it’s that he sees potential in people long before everyone else does. I was actually a year older than him, so I’ll admit it wasn’t always easy listening to this younger guy tell me to get back on call time and dial for dollars. But he believed in me when very few people did, and those lessons he taught me have stayed with me ever since.

I’ve had the chance to see Dylan from every angle—as a candidate, as an elected official, as a fellow party leader, as a delegate to the Democratic National Convention, and as one of my closest friends. He started as my campaign manager. Today, he’s the person I call late at night when I need to talk through a tough vote or a difficult decision. At this point, he’s family. I can honestly say there’s nobody I’d trust more in this role.

And that’s something I’ve seen happen with so many of the candidates he’s worked for. Campaigns eventually end, but the relationships don’t. Candidates and their families miss seeing Dylan every day because he pours so much of himself into the people he works with. I honestly believe every candidate he’s ever worked for would still endorse him today, and in politics, that’s saying something.

Most consultants or campaign managers want to be attached to races they know they can win. Dylan has never been wired that way. He’ll work just as hard for the long-shot candidate because he believes showing up matters. Making people feel included matters. Giving people a choice matters. Even when the odds aren’t in your favor, Dylan believes every community deserves someone willing to fight for them.

I’ve watched Dylan dedicate nearly a decade of his life to electing Democrats and building this Party. He’s driven thousands of miles across North Carolina, knocked countless doors, made fundraising calls nobody wants to make, solved problems at every hour of the day, and helped elect candidates because he believes they can make our state better.

One of the things I admire most about Dylan is that he’ll always tell you the truth, even when it’s not what you want to hear. He’s incredibly pragmatic, deliberate, and honest. If he thinks you’re going to win, he’ll tell you. If he thinks you’re going to lose, he’ll tell you that too—and then he’ll tell you exactly what needs to happen to give you a chance. That honesty is why so many candidates trust him.

Behind every campaign and every victory is someone who genuinely cares about people. He listens. He shows up. He works harder than anyone I know. And no matter how busy he gets, he never forgets where he came from or why he started doing this work in the first place.

North Carolina Democrats need leaders who know how to organize, who know how to win, and who never lose sight of the people they’re fighting for. Dylan Moore is that leader.

It is my honor, and my privilege, to place the name of my friend, Dylan Moore, into nomination for First Vice Chair of the North Carolina Democratic Party.
